A rugged, waterproof camera that brings a 1-inch sensor and 8K video into GoPro's point of view.
The camera needs to travel with the action, in weather or water, rather than watch safely from the side.
You mostly shoot faces and varied focal lengths; its fixed ultra-wide perspective will define every frame.
A perspective you can enter
A bicycle turns through a city in the rain. A conventional camera sees the ride from the sidewalk; the MISSION 1 PRO can go with it. Waterproofing to 20m and GoPro's compact mountable form are as central to this camera as its sensor. The shot exists because you can put the camera there.
The 2026 MISSION series is GoPro's step beyond familiar HERO-style action capture. A 50MP 1-inch sensor supports 8K60 in 16:9, 8K30 in 4:3 open gate, and 4K240 slow motion. Those modes allow reframing and timing choices, but high resolution does not turn the fixed ultra-wide lens into a portrait lens.
Compose now, crop later
The GoPro records a wide view in the direction you point it. You can crop within that image later, while keeping a conventional flat-video workflow. The Insta360 X6 records every direction and lets you choose the direction later; that freedom comes with a different detail and editing trade-off.

GoPro's MISSION line moves its action-camera idea toward more flexible filmmaking. The PRO combines a 50MP 1-inch sensor, 8K60 widescreen video, 8K30 open gate, and waterproofing to 20m. The point is not to replace every camera: it can make a shot possible where a larger or more delicate body would stay in the bag.
