A camera that remembers all directions
At a crowded festival, you cannot know whether the best moment will happen ahead, behind, or beside you. The X6 records the surroundings with two 1/1.1-inch square sensors at up to 8K50. Later, you can make the frame follow a face, turn toward a reaction, or reveal the crowd without having performed that camera move at the time.
The newer X6 improves the practical side of that idea with replaceable lenses, 47GB of usable built-in storage, and waterproofing to 20m. It can also act as a single-lens ultra-wide camera, recording up to 5K60; its widest 170° flat view is available at up to 5K30.
What 8K means here
The X6 spreads its 8K pixels around a full sphere. A normal horizontal video selects only a portion of it, so it cannot retain the detail of a flat 8K shot from the GoPro MISSION 1 PRO. Choose the X6 for freedom to discover the angle afterward, and expect to spend more time reframing in the edit.

Find the frame afterward.
The X6 changes the usual order of filmmaking. Its two lenses record the whole surrounding scene, then you select a flat frame and its movement later. That is powerful when the action is unpredictable. Its 8K figure covers the entire sphere, however, not one conventional 16:9 frame.
